Why MacBook Screen Went Black - Common Causes and Solutions

Hello Tuk Tuk MacBook and Laptop Repair

A black screen on your MacBook can be caused by various issues, but it’s often solvable. Here are some common causes and solutions:

1. Power Issues

If your MacBook is not turning on, the battery might be drained, or the power adapter could be faulty. Ensure the charger is properly connected and functioning.

Solution: Try using a different charger, or check if the battery is charging.

2. Software Glitches or System Crashes

A system crash or unresponsive macOS could lead to a black screen.

Solution: Perform a hard reset by holding down the power button for 10 seconds. You can also try Safe Mode by holding Shift during startup.

3. Display or Hardware Problems

A damaged display or GPU, or internal cable issues can cause the screen to go black.

Solution: Reset the SMC and PRAM/NVRAM. If this doesn’t help, a professional inspection may be needed.

4. Low Brightness or Sleep Mode

Sometimes, the screen might be too dim, or the MacBook may simply be in sleep mode.

Solution: Adjust the brightness using the F1/F2 keys or wake the MacBook by pressing a key or clicking the trackpad.
